New steampunk choker I put together.

Cameo and gear are from Michaels. Wings are from Etsy. Choker ribbon and findings were from Joanns. With coupons and clearance, I’d say the piece cost me about $3 to make… which is good because it was one of my first times working with E6000 and the charm is a little messy around the edges. I may try to clean it up with my exacto knife a little later.

For the same Labyrinth swap as mentioned in my last post, I decided I wanted to stretch myself a bit and start playing with a new medium: paperclay. It’s a no bake clay and dries extremely lightweight which was perfect for my needs.  I actually ended up using more of this fantastic creation on a second project, too.

So, this necklace is a piece I mostly made from old pieces of other jewelry. It was done for a Labyrinth swap earlier this year and I was quite pleased with the way it came out.

The owl charm was the only thing purchased for this piece. Silver leaves and the chain came from an old necklace I received in a bag of costume jewelry and the two crystal beads are vintage off one of my great-grandmother’s old necklaces. Sadly, I don’t remember where I got the little silver bead but I think it was pulled from a set of old earrings.  I really do enjoy taking old/broken/reclaimed pieces of jewelry and giving them new life in new pieces.  It’s easier on the wallet and much better than tossing that mismatched earring away in the trash.

A few years ago, my uncle purchased a beautiful pair of earrings for my aunt.

Unfortunately, she didn’t have anything with which to wear them.
